Being Holier

December 26, 2018

I love what Bailey said about being holy.  In fact, that post could just be used as the beginning and end of this month's Be-Attitudes.  But because Bailey wants me to respond, I better write something.

As we close out this year, let's learn to be kinder to ourselves.  President Russell M. Nelson invited us to consider our own desires.  Do you really want to be more like Jesus?  Then he encouraged us to accept the gifts offered by the Lord.

First, He gave us an unlimited capacity to love.  It's there, we just have to learn how to use it. Sometimes I have a hard time with the loving the unlovable or those that don't love me or give me a hard time.  But I have seen love change people, too.  It may take time, so don't get discouraged.

President Nelson said another gift the Savior offers is the ability to forgive.  You can forgive those who have hurt you, even though they may never accept responsibility for their cruelty.  Forgive them and move on.  Don't let them take any more time from you.

I have been a little lax in my journaling lately.  But every November (the Thanksgiving month) I try to write something every day that I'm grateful for.  Looking at my journal, I think next year I'll make it a yearly grateful journal.  Pick out something each day to be grateful for.  It certainly helps focus on the positive and on others.

Let's all try to count our blessings, never suppress a generous thought, and try to love and lift others.
Let's make 2019 a gentler, kinder, holier year.  It's the true path to happiness.

Than you for joining us this year!  We love good company.
