Triple Berry Dump Cake

January 27, 2019

Once a month a group of our friends get together for a gospel discussion.  The host prepares the main entree and the other 3 couples choose between a salad/veggie dish, bread (of course!) and dessert.  Typically I sign up for dessert for an excuse to try a new Pinterest recipe.  It's okay to do that among friends, right?

On a recent pinning binge I added several "dump" desserts.  It never sounds good to have "dump" in any kind of food recipe, yet this. is. so. good!  And simple.  Five ingredients that you typically have on hand in the freezer and pantry - or will from now on.

Berry crisp dump cake is only 5 ingredients and one pan! Juicy mixed berries covered in an easy cake mix, oatmeal, walnut, and melted butter mixture. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delicious dessert.

You can never go wrong with berries, and the cake mix, butter and walnuts create a scrumptious, rich texture.  With all the sighs this delectable dish gets, you can tell it's a winner.  (Okay, that was probably me.)

Ingredients - count to five:
  • 2 bags (12-15 oz each) frozen mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries)
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) salted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
    Easy Peasy Instructions:
  • Heat oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Spread the frozen berries in the bottom of the dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine yellow cake mix (DO NOT prepare), melted butter, oats, and walnuts. Stir together until thick crumbles form.
  • Sprinkle evenly over the frozen berries.
  • Cook for 50-55 minutes. Crisp topping will be a golden brown and the berries will be bubbling.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
This is one dessert Mr. B and I didn't mind coming home with the leftovers.  Every bite is a delight!
