Family Fun Traditions

November 09, 2017

Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go.

We can learn an abundance of lessons from Mother Nature.  Isn't it interesting when she is starting to relax, unwind and prepare for a long winter's nap, we're just getting ramped up for the holidays.  It is both invigorating and calming.

All the trees are losing their leaves,

and not one of them is worried.

I love this time of the year. Mother Nature really does have the best box of crayons.  Autumn brings with it warm memories and hot apple cider.  Grandma's best recipes make their appearance at the table and in the cookie jar.   Our hearts turn to gratitude and we find contentment with what we already have.

Stop focusing on how stressed you are

and remember how blessed you are.

Do you sometimes feel Thanksgiving is swallowed up along with the Halloween candy to make room for the Christmas sugar fest?  Take time this month to pause.  Think to thank.

What are some of your Autumn or Thanksgiving traditions?

As a mother I now understand my own mother's lament, "I spend all this time preparing and cooking a Thanksgiving meal and it's all gone in 15 minutes.  Can't we just sit around the table and talk?"  Our family likes to keep things simple, making more time for family visiting - another reason Pinterest is a treasured friend.  I'm so grateful for all the creative people who are willing to share their talents and printables.

Mr B and I are very fortunate to have all our children and grandchildren living around us.  It's also fabulous they have large homes and double-ovens - we're grateful to bring our assigned foods.  The kiddos all enjoy their cousins and football is channeled in on the big screen.  We've worn our elastic waist pants and are ready to relax.

Do you have children coming to dinner?  Try a few of my recent finds.

Share with us some of your favorite traditions!  I think it's about time to get out the puzzles and make some boiled raisin cake.

Thanks for stopping by!  I enjoy good company.  Be sure to take home some of the leftovers.

  1. Thank you so much for taking the time to collect and share these. You have inspired me to take a break and get out a few decorations and choose one of these tips to try!
